This work is one of many in a series of projects that I have been carrying out with the aim of embracing a limited bulk of elements of metaphysical poetry - water, air, unity and movement - symbols that invite us to think, to feel and to experience the origin, the birth, that which is beyond everything physical and spiritual.
This is a work of reminescence that conjures up the ancient Greek word “physis”, used to refer to anything that today we associate with “Nature”. Physis is “birth”, “origin”, the primal deity of Nature and one of the first beings to come into existence at the dawn of time.
This work is intended as a portal into a mysterious landscape, whose composition speaks about something that is beyond that represented by the image. A series of elements that combine with one another to make us wonder about the origin, the elemental, about time, spirit and the unity imbued in the Eternal Return.
The Galapagos Islands are an archipelago of volcanic islands distributed on the Equator in the Pacific Ocean, 973 km West of Continental Ecuador. The islands are considered one of the most active volcanic areas in the world. There are 16 main islands and a big number of tiny ones, all separated from the rest of the world by a vast body of water. Beneath the surface of the crust of the Galapagos Islands, there is a large column of melted rock that rises all the way up. This hot point is immense and connects the islands with the center of the Earth.
Milllions of years ago, Galapagos was born out of fire. An eruption in the deep waters of the Pacific Ocean expelled lava from the bottom of the sea, the rock layers rose to the surface during more than hundreds of thousands of years and a number of islands emerged from the sea. It is like a geological umbilical cord, a place isolated from the rest of the world, a magical spot for its natural exhuberance and its millenary conservation of endemic animal species that have survived from time immemorial.
The proposed video installation is that, a gaze into this poetic-metaphysical landscape. It is a translation in the gaze in time, conjuring up the Greek philosophical concept of the origin in connection with the mystery of what remains permanent as opposed to multiplicity and change.

La obra es una pieza dentro de una serie de trabajos que vengo realizando, los cuales tienen por objeto el abordaje de un cúmulo limitado de elementos de poética metafísica (agua, aire, unidad, movimiento). Símbolos que inducen a pensar, sentir y experimentar el origen, el nacimiento, aquello que está por detrás de todo lo físico, lo espiritual. Es un trabajo de reminiscencia que nos lleva a la antigua palabra griega “physis”, con la cual remitían y nombraban algo emparentado a lo que hoy llamamos “naturaleza”. Physis es “nacimiento”, “origen”, entendida como deidad primordial de la naturaleza y uno de los primeros seres en surgir al principio de los tiempos. Posteriormente esa palabra se transformó en la palabra física, anclándose en el universo material y perdiendo su antiguo sentido.
La obra se presenta como un portal por el cual entrar a un paisaje misterioso, cuya composición nos habla de algo más allá de lo que se presenta por sí mismo en imagen.
Una serie de elementos que se conjugan para abrir el paso a la pregunta por el origen, por lo que está de fondo, por el tiempo, el espíritu y la unidad imbuida en el eterno devenir.
La obra se presenta como un portal por el cual entrar a un paisaje misterioso, cuya composición nos habla de algo más allá de lo que se presenta por sí mismo en imagen.

Las Islas Galápagos son un archipiélago de islas de origen volcánico distribuidas en Ecuador en el Océano Pacífico a 973 km al oeste de Ecuador Continental. Están consideradas entre las áreas volcánicas más activas del mundo. Hay 16 de ellas y una multitud de islas pequeñas todas separadas del resto del mundo por una enorme extensión de océano. Debajo de la corteza terrestre en la que se encuentra Galápagos hay algo extraordinario, una gigantesca columna de roca fundida sobrecalentada. Hace millones de años Galápagos nació del fuego. Una erupción en las profundidades del Pacífico expulsó lava desde el fondo del mar. Las capas de roca crecieron hacia la superficie durante más de varios cientos de miles de años y una serie de islas emergieron del mar. Yendo hacia arriba, este punto caliente es inmenso, tiene por lo menos 96 km de diámetro. Se extiende hacia abajo hasta los 2900 km de profundidad y conecta las islas con el centro de la tierra.
Se trata de una especie de cordón umbilical geológico. Un lugar aislado del resto del mundo, mágico desde el punto de vista de su exuberancia natural y la conservación milenaria de las especies endémicas de animales que allí sobreviven desde tiempo inmemoriales.
